In my line of work, I encounter all types of people and situations from every walk of life…and I absolutely love it.
I recently got a last-minute call for my team to provide hair and makeup services for a gentleman planning to propose to his girlfriend. Thank goodness he had the good sense — or maybe the planner did — to make sure her hair and makeup were done first. Because let’s be honest…it’s a surprise proposal. She would have been pissed if she wasn’t camera ready! Lol.
To make things even more interesting, she spoke Spanish and un poquito inglés , he spoke no Spanish at all, I spoke enough to hold us together on my journey to fluency, and the makeup artist? Not a word of Spanish.
Needless to say, it turned into one of those unforgettable moments that reminded me why I love what I do so much. In my line of work, I encounter all types of people and situations from every walk of life…and I absolutely love it.
What a foursome we made!!!
The love was already there, she had absolutely no idea what was about to happen, and somehow, we found ourselves right in the middle of it all — exchanging life stories in 3 minutes or less, lol.
I was translating back and forth, the makeup artist was smiling and nodding supportively, and good ole trusty Google Translate handled the rest. Somehow, despite the language barriers, we all understood the moment perfectly.
And honestly…those are the moments I cherish most.
She was happy with her look, and he was even happier that she was happy. We left knowing we had contributed to such a beautiful moment — the beginning of the next chapter in their lives (unbeknownst to her! lol).
What we do is so much more than hair and makeup. We provide elevated experiences that enhance the moments people are actively living through. We create art that becomes a part of how you experience your life…through the way you present yourself to the world.
